Vietnam, Cambodia hold talks

(VOVworld)- A high-level delegation from Cambodia’s National Assembly led by its President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Charkrei Heng Samrin began an official visit to Vietnam on Monday at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. During talks held after the welcoming ceremony, the two legislative leaders agreed to boost comprehensive cooperation, strengthen solidarity, and assist each other in dealing with regional and global issues thus increasing their prestige in international parliamentary forums.

The two legislators promised to further contribute to the sustainable development of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Alliance and increase parliamentary cooperation activities. Chairman Hung said the Vietnamese National Assembly and people supported the Cambodian People’s Party’s guidelines on building peace, independence, unification and development. The President of the Cambodian National Assembly praised Vietnam’s recent achievements describing them as Cambodians’. He expressed his hope that the two sides would increase cooperation and bring trade turnover to more than 2.5 billion USD.

To mark the occasion, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung invited his Cambodian counterpart Samdech Heng Samrin to attend the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to be held in Vietnam in 2015.
