Vietnam, Cambodia step up anti drug trafficking measures

(VOVworld)- Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Wednesday held talks with his Cambodian counterpart Ke Kim Yan. During their talks, the two Deputy Prime Ministers, who are also Presidents of both countries’ National Committee for Drug Prevention and Control agreed to speed up the exchange of information to prevent drug trafficking. Vietnam also pledged to help Cambodia train doctors and health care workers working in drug rehabilitation centers. The Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister praised the effective cooperation between the two countries in this field: “It’s the responsibility of every country to combat drugs, especially as ASEAN is determined to eliminate drugs by 2015. ASEAN member countries are making every effort to prevent and control drugs. Cambodia and Vietnam are neighbors, so, they both need to cooperate in drug prevention and control.

At the talks, both parties stressed that it is necessary to organize more conferences on drug prevention and control between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
