Vietnam celebrates 78th anniversary of its first general election

(VOVWORLD) - January 6 marks the 78th anniversary of the first General Election of Vietnam. The General Election marked a milestone in the process of building democratic institutions, affirming Vietnamese people’s legal right to mastery.

The success of the first the General Election manifested the development of the revolutionary State of Vietnam, opening a new era for the country with a National Assembly, a unified Government, a progressive Constitution, and an administration with fully legal status to represent the Vietnamese people in domestic and foreign affairs.

Over the past 78 years, the National Assembly has always been attached to and accompanied the nation, fulfilling its mission as the supreme representative of the people and the most powerful state agency of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
