Vietnam, China agree to forge stronger security cooperation

(VOVworld)- Vietnamese Minister of Public Security, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam held talks in Beijing on Friday with Guo Shengkun, Chinese Minister of Public Security, and Meng Jianzhu, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee’s Political and Legal Affairs Commission.

The talks took place within the framework of the ongoing visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

At the meetings, the officials agreed to work closely together to ensure security and safety for their high-ranking delegations during visits to the other country as well as major political and social events, while enhancing coordination in fighting high technology crimes, drug and human trafficking as well as illegal exit and entrance activities within both bilateral and multilateral cooperation frameworks.

They also reached consensus on ensuring legitimate rights of their citizens residing in the other country, strengthening ties in personnel training to improve law enforcement capacity of officials, and promoting the existing cooperation mechanisms among professional units and public security forces in localities.
