Vietnam coffee exporters eye turnover of 5 billion USD

(VOVWORLD) - How to raise coffee export revenue to 5 billion USD topped the agenda of a workshop held in HCM city on Saturday as part of an annual festival to honor Vietnamese coffee and tea.

Participants proposed measures to ensure sustainable export growth and create more values for Vietnamese coffee. 

A Coffee Talk program was also organized to share experiences in entrepreneurship and financial management. 

Vietnamese coffee is now available in more than 80 countries and territories. The coffee industry makes up nearly 4% of the country's GDP, providing stable employment and income for over 700,000 farming households. 

Vietnam ranks sixth in the world in terms of coffee cultivation area but is the second largest coffee exporter globally, after Brazil. Coffee export revenue rose from 2 billion USD in 2014 to 4.18 billion USD last year.
