Vietnam confirms 39 Covid-19 cases

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported 5 more cases positive for the acute respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19), bringing the total infection cases in Vietnam to 39.

The latest case is a 29-year-old man, a tour guide of Amazing Ninh Binh Travel Company, who lives in Hanoi. Three other newly infected people had close contact with the 34th Covid-19 patient. They are a 64-year old female who is a housemaid of the 34th Covid-19 patient, a 34-year-old woman, who is an employee of the patient, and the 38-year-old daughter in law of 34th Covid-19 patient. All with high body temperature  are quarantined in Binh Thuan provincial Hospital.

Earlier the same day, a 29-year old female was confirmed as the 35th Covid-19 patient in Vietnam. She is a Vietnamese national and works as a salesperson at local supermarket chain Dien May Xanh in Hai Chau district in the central coastal city of Da Nang.

The case comes after the infected individual had direct contact with two British tourists at Dien May Xanh supermarket sometime between 6 pm and 7 pm on March 4. The British pair were later discovered to have tested positive for the Covid-19.

The female patient has since been put into isolation in order to receive treatment at Da Nang Hospital.

Vietnam to date has successfully cured and discharged a total of 16 infected cases from hospitals, while there have been an additional 23 cases recorded in recent days.
