The Vietnamese leaders said Cambodia will soon have a new National Assembly and government to lead the people to greater achievements on the quest for peace, stability, prosperity, and a higher global profile. They noted that the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, and long-term comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia will be further consolidated and developed to benefit their two peoples, the ASEAN community, as well as peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) spokesman Sok Eysan told a VOV correspondent in Cambodia that the CPP led by Prime Minister Hun Sen won 77.5% of the votes and at least 100 out of 125 parliamentary seats.

Voter turnout was 82%, according to the election committee. Official results are expected on August 15.
