Vietnam considers the US one of its most important partners, says FM

(VOVWORLD) -Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has said Vietnam considers the US one of its most important partners and wishes to continue developing the Comprehensive Partnership with the US on the basis of mutual benefits, respect for each other's independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and political institutions.

Minister Son held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Hanoi on Saturday.

Blinken said the US values the friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, agreed with his Vietnamese counterpart that the two sides need to continue cooperation and promote bilateral relations on the principles agreed by their senior leaders.

Applauding Vietnam's dynamic development, role and position in the region, Secretary of State Blinken reaffirmed the United States' commitment to respecting political institutions, independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Vietnam and supporting a strong, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous Vietnam.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.
