Regarding Vietnam’s contributions to the Summit, Minister Minh highlighted Vietnam’s active contribution to the bloc’s common goals. Together with other ASEAN countries, Vietnam has put forward and approved many action programs that promote ASEAN’s leadership with a Declaration on the ASEAN Community’s Post-2015 Vision. The Vietnamese delegation highlighted the importance of building strategic trust, abiding by international laws, and implementing the agreed commitments while harmoniously combining national interests and regional common benefits for the region’s peace, security, stability and prosperity.

Vietnam and other ASEAN countries agreed to support ASEAN’s principles, maintain the bloc’s solidarity to promote peace, stability, security and safe navigation in the East Sea, settle disputes through peaceful means, respect international laws - especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and strictly abide by the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) with a goal of soon completing the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).

On this occasion, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with leaders of other countries to discuss ways to boost bilateral ties and work toward common interests.
