Vietnam, Czech Republic mark 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties

(VOVworld) – Ambassador Truong Manh Son has praised the development of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Czech Republic over the past 65 years.

Addressing a meeting on Monday at the headquarters of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech parliament in Prague, Son said Vietnam is willing to strengthen mutual trust and understanding with the Czech Republic and deepen the relationship.

Ambassador Son also announced 2015 as the Year of Vietnamese Culture in the Czech Republic.

He noted that around 60,000 Vietnamese people are residing in the Czech Republic and they observe the laws and are well integrated into the host country and also contribute to the development of Czech society.

For his part, Jan Hamacek, Chairman of the Czech Republic’s Chamber of Deputies, appreciated the Vietnamese people’s integration into Czech society while preserving their national identity.

Hamacek said that the achievements of the two countries over 65 years would lay excellent foundations for a future of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Participants to the meeting enjoyed a special art performance presented by Vietnamese artists.
