Speaking at a regular press briefing on Thursday, Hang said: “The Vietnamese government has persistently promoted economic restructuring to improve business environment, transparency, and facilitation. Macro-economic financial and monetary policies are administered flexibly in line with Vietnam’s reality to stabilize the macro-economy and fuel socio-economic development. Vietnam hasn’t and does not intend to manipulate its currency for commercial advantages. The State Bank of Vietnam and relevant agencies have exchanged views with the US Treasury on macro economic and foreign exchange policies.”
The spokeswoman talked about Vietnam’s priorities if it is elected non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in the context of its ASEAN Chairmanship next year: “Once final results are available, Vietnamese leaders will have messages on Vietnam’s priorities in its term of UN Security Council non-permanent membership 2020-2021. Vietnam will serve as the ASEAN Chair next year and has actively prepared to take charge of both important positions.”
Regarding Vietnam’s comments on the remarks of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the 18th Shangri-La Dialogue and on his Facebook page on May 31, which said Vietnam had “invaded” and “occupied” Cambodia, Hang said Vietnam has sent a diplomatic note to the Singaporean Embassy in Vietnam and believed that Singapore got its message on this issue.
