(VOVWORLD) - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) To Lam held talks with General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un at the WPK headquarters on Thursday in Pyongyang following the solemn welcome ceremony for the top Vietnamese Party leader.

During the talks, the two leaders reviewed and expressed their deep appreciation for the long-standing traditional friendship between the two Parties and the two countries, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung, and nurtured and strengthened by generations of leaders from both sides.
They agreed to enhance exchanges of high-level and various-level delegations through Party, State, Government, and National Assembly channels, promote cooperation among localities, effectively maintain existing dialogue and cooperation mechanisms, explore potential areas of collaboration, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges.
General Secretary To Lam proposed that both sides make full use of the Party channel for cooperation, consider organizing theoretical exchange seminars, and share experiences in Party building and national development, promote bilateral and multilateral parliamentary cooperation, enhance mutually beneficial economic ties consistent with each country’s development goals and international regulations.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam stands ready to share with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea its experiences in economic renovation, external economic relations, and policies on economic management, import-export, and socio-economic development. He also suggested the two countries expand cooperation in areas with great potential such as culture, sports, tourism, education, healthcare, information and communications, and the production of radio and television programs introducing the culture, land, and people of both countries.
General Secretary and President of the State Affairs of the DPRK Kim Jong Un highly appreciated and agreed with General Secretary To Lam’s cooperation proposals, affirming that the DPRK wishes to closely cooperate with Vietnam in Party building and national development and is ready to promote cooperation across various suitable fields.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues, agreeing to strengthen coordination and mutual support, as well as cooperation at multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the ASEAN Regional Forum.
