Cabinet members agreed that since the beginning of the year, the socio-economic situation has seen positive changes especially in the areas of inflation control and macro-economic stabilization. The Consumer Price Index in November increased by 5.5 percent compared to last December and much lower than 3 years ago. Export experienced high growth bringing in 121 billion USD, an increase of 16 percent compared to the same period last year. Bad debts and inventories have been gradually dealt with.

The Prime Minister asked ministries, sectors and localities to manage and take drastic measures to meet the set goals and tasks focusing on controlling the market, and prices to prevent price hikes, especially on agricultural products and consumer goods as the Lunar New Year is approaching. Cabinet members also discussed and contributed to the draft reports which reviewed 5 years of implementing the Party Central Committee’s Resolution on agriculture, farmers and rural areas. Prime Minister Dung: "Applying science and technology to agricultural production can be a decisive factor in increasing productivity, helping to increase incomes and improve people’s living standards. Moreover, it is necessary to focus on production relations, and cooperation between related parties to increase average profits".

Another important issue discussed at the meeting was the management of construction investment and planning and the operation of hydro-power projects. Mr. Dung said that the government would soon issue a resolution on this matter.
