Speaking in a ceremony to mark the sector’s 60^th anniversary, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai asked the energy sector to prepare in advance for national development and improve the quality of electricity supply while promoting efficient use of natural resources. He called for more investment in downstream development, transmission network and pricing policy in line with the market economy and under state management. The national grid now generates 35,000 megawatts this year, ranking 3^rd in Southeast Asia and 31^st in the world.
