At the 12th “Meet Vietnam” conference in Binh Dinh province on Thursday, Mr. Dam said science and technology is an important driving force for sustainable national growth and narrowing the gap with more developed nations.

Mr. Dam says: “Some say countries like Vietnam should focus on scientific and technological application and leave fundamental scientific research to more developed countries. But the Vietnamese government doesn’t agree and insists that fundamental science needs more investment to consolidate national competence.”
