Vietnam enhances cooperation with UN on social security

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is determined not to sacrifice social progress and justice in the pursuit of economic growth, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said at a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday for UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam Pauline Tamesis.

Mr. Dung said Vietnam must deal with war consequences and current problems to hasten its development. The Vietnamese Government is paying close attention to social protection with top priority given to perfecting the legal system.

Ms. Tamesis insisted on the importance of social protection and recommended that Vietnam continue to promote policies and investment mechanisms to improve the work environment and basic social services, expand social sponsorship activities, and promote the application of IT and digital technology .

She said the UN is always ready to support the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs in ensuring social security.
