Vietnam enhances strategic partnership with India

(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Monday reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of developing the time-honoured friendship and strategic partnership with India in a variety of fields for mutual benefit. At a reception for the visiting Indian Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj in Hanoi on Monday, the Prime Minister said that her visit would significantly contribute to the fine traditional relations and strategic partnership between Vietnam and India. The Indian Foreign Minister said that the new Indian government always attaches great importance to boosting cooperation with Vietnam which holds an increasingly important position in the world. She also conveyed an invitation to visit India in early October from PM Narendra Modi to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung to work out ways to boost bilateral relations. Ms Sushma Swaraj suggested both sides should increase bilateral cooperation in all fields to utilize their full potential, adding that India is appreciative of Vietnam’s security and defense status and wants Vietnam to become its partner in this field. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung agreed with all proposals made by Minister Swaraj. He said Vietnam warmly welcomed the Indian President to visit Vietnam this September and thanked the Indian Prime Minister for inviting him to visit India saying that these were the kinds of important events which raised the Vietnam-India strategic partnership to a new height.
