Vietnam extends condolences over Switzerland fire

(VOVWORLD) -President Luong Cuong on Saturday sent a message of condolences to Swiss President Guy Parmelin following a severe fire that occurred in the Valais canton, Switzerland, on Wednesday night, and killed dozens of people.

On the same day, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung sent a message of condolences to Minister of Foreign Affairs Ignazio Cassis.

Initial investigations suggest that the deadly fire that ripped through a bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana started when lit sparklers attached to champagne bottles were carried too close to the ceiling, the prosecutor said on Friday. The inferno killed 40 people and seriously injured 119, many of them teenagers.
