Vietnam, Finland effectively tap EVFTA

(VOVWORLD) - For Vietnam, Finland is a significant market in the EU where it has enjoyed positive growth recently, evidenced by bilateral trade in the first half of 2021 registering 285 million USD, up 61% year on year. This was disclosed at a meeting in Hanoi on Thursday between Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam Kari Kahiluoto.

Minister Dien said the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement is a great booster to trade and investment. Vietnam wants to export steel, iron, footwear, machinery, and textiles to Finland and import machinery, timber products, electronics, and advanced services in energy, healthcare, and education.

“Vietnam is a developing country with a nearly-one-hundred-million population. Its great amount of domestic waste and industrial waste need proper treatment. So waste-to-energy is an ideal solution for Vietnam, at the same time, treating all types of waste and generating power can fill in the power shortage from other sources. We warmly welcome Finnish corporations to invest in waste treatment in Vietnam.”
