Vietnam Foreign Ministry utters opinion on China’s activity in the East Sea

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is to verify the information on China’s vessels operating in its waters. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang told the press on Thursday that Vietnamese authorities always supervise all activities in its territorial waters defined by international law including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Regarding China’s deployment of surveillance balloons over Mischief Reef in the East Sea and Chinese Coast Guard vessels operating in the East Sea on November 29, the spokeswoman said Vietnam has sufficient legal and historic ground and evidence confirming its sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. Vietnam asked related parties to respect Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction rights and comply with international law and make responsible contribution to security, safety, peace and stability in the East Sea.
