Over the past 9 months the agriculture sector has maintained strong growth, with export turnover of agriculture, forestry, and fishery products increasing 15%, about 41 billion USD. Seven groups of products earned export revenues of 2 billion USD each.
Mr. Tien said the Ministry will continue to push restructuring to increase productivity, quality, and profitability, and will guide localities, especially key rice production, animal husbandry, and aquaculture areas, to outline production plans to meet market demand.
“The performance of the agricultural sector over the past 9 months has contributed to the national growth of 13.76%. The sector’s indicators have shown macro economic stability and sustainable development. In the last three months of the year, Vietnam should strive to achieve its export target of 50 billion USD,” according to Tien.
At the press briefing, Nguyen Quang Hung, Deputy General Director of the Directorate of Fisheries, said that an European Commission delegation will be in Vietnam from October 19 to October 28 to observe the implementation of the EC’s recommendations for removing its yellow card on Vietnamese seafood.
