Vietnam gives priorities to sustainable development

(VOV) - Vietnam’s priorities given to the National Strategy for Sustainable Development (2010-2020) are based on the three pillars of social, environmental and economic sustainability. Ambassador Le Hoai Trung, Vietnam's permanent representative to the UN said this at the second session of the UN General Assembly Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) held recently in New York. As Chair of the Troika Group including Bhutan, Thailand and Vietnam, ambassador Trung emphasized the common responsibility for the process of building SDGs which ensures sustainability, improve recovery capability against risks and reduce injustice. He said Vietnam always puts human in the focal point of poverty reduction policy, pays more attention to vulnerable people, social welfare system and people’s capability to cope with negative impacts of climate change. Trung added that the country shows its keen interest in improving the equality and diversifying the implementation of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
