Vietnam goes 8 days without new COVID-19 case

(VOVWORLD) - As of Friday noon, there had been no new COVID-19 cases in Vietnam for 8 consecutive days.

The last person to test positive for coronavirus was a teenage girl in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on April 16.

More than 2.7 million people in 210 countries and territories have been confirmed infected with COVID-19 and over 190,000 have died from the disease. The US is the hardest-hit country, with 880,000 infections, followed by Spain, Italy, and France.

The US House of Representatives passed a second coronavirus relief bill this week to help businesses and hospitals weather the economic impact of the pandemic, raising total relief spending to 3 trillion USD.

A 580-billion-USD relief package was approved by the EU and will be delivered before June.
