Vietnam joins ASEAN efforts for closer maritime cooperation

(VOVworld) – Vietnam has attended the fourth ASEAN Maritime Forum (AMF-4) to strengthen maritime cooperation for regional prosperity and stability. Vietnamese delegates, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Quang Vinh, and delegates from other ASEAN countries stressed the importance of abiding by international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and maintaining an environment of peace, stability and maritime security in the region, essential conditions for further enhancing cooperation at sea.

AMF-4 concluded Wednesday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 2-day event drew the participation of senior leaders and maritime experts of 10 ASEAN members.
