Vietnam, Laos vow to foster special solidarity

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam-Laos relations always hold a special importance and are a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy, Party General Secretary To Lam said on Sunday, stressing that upholding this relationship is considered a strategic and vital task for Vietnam’s revolutionary cause and national construction and defence.

Mr. Lam was speaking during phone talks with General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on Sunday.

He praised the fruitful development of bilateral ties across areas, including politics, defence and security, economics, culture, education, and science-technology.

General Secretary Lam updated the Lao top leader on recent developments in Vietnam, including efforts to achieve the goals set out at the 13th National Party Congress and preparations for the upcoming 14th Congress. He also touched upon some major policies and decisions aimed at advancing the nation into a new era - the era of rise.

The General Secretary and President of Laos said the phone talks demonstrate the special solidarity between the two Parties, States, and peoples.  

Laos will continue to support and do its best to preserve and nurture this special relationship, he said. 

The Lao leader expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will successfully accomplish its missions and embark on the era of national advancement.  

The two leaders agreed on specific orientations to implement high-level agreements between the two countries. They pledged to promote existing mechanisms, improve multifaceted cooperation, and strengthen the special solidarity between the two nations.
