A launch ceremony was held at the Monument to War Heroes and Martyrs, north of the Thach Han river in Quang Tri province. Local authorities will roll out new policies to encourage timber plantation and forest protection in the hope of reviving indigenous fauna.
500 new trees were planted on a one-hectare area in Khanh Binh commune, Khanh Hoa province, toward the target of having 140 hectares covered by new forest this year in Khanh Hoa.
Le Tan Ban, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said, “We have a forest plan. We will cover this area, which is near a stream, with giant timber trees. A local agency will be responsible for protecting it.”
A similar launch event was held in Vi Thanh city, Hau Giang province. Before attending the ceremony, Hau Giang leaders visited a high-quality rice farming model in Vi Thanh.
