Vietnam logs 88 new local COVID-19 infections, one more death ​

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam recorded 88 new local COVID-19 cases Monday noon in five localities, raising the total infection number in the ongoing wave to more than 10,000 in less than two months.

63 cases were recorded in HCM city, 16 in Bac Giang, 4 in Nghe An, 3 in Bac Ninh and 2 in Ha Tinh.

Of the new cases, 87 were found in quarantine sites or locked-down areas. The history of epidemiology of 3 patients in Nghe An province is being investigated.

The same day, Vietnam confirmed one more coronavirus-related death, bringing the national tally to 67.

The 75-year-old man tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 on June 14, with underlying diseases of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia.

Vietnam has recorded more than 13,300 cases since COVID-19 first hit the country early last year.
