(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Marine Police Department has reviewed its cooperation with other agencies to protect submarine optical cable links AAG and SMW3.

At a meeting held on Tuesday in the southern province of Ba Ria Vung Tau, in 2012 the department deployed ships of Marine Police Zone 2 and 3 to be on alert to prevent any possible damage to the lines. Marine Police Zone 3 sent alarm signals and gave guidance for vessels to operate or anchor out of the cable links. The marine police conducted regular communication programs to impress maritime organizations, individuals, and businesses with the importance of submarine optical cable links and raise their awareness of the need to protect national telecommunication infrastructure.
