Participants highlighted the historic milestone in August, 1964, when the Vietnamese naval force pushed US destroyer Maddox out of Vietnamese waters and shot down 8 US aircraft.
Rear Admiral Pham Van Quang briefed the veterans of the performance of the navy and new developments in the East Sea. He said the Vietnamese navy is closely monitoring the situation and taking all measures to prevent any potential escalations and defend peace and national sovereignty.
