Vietnam, Myanmar to boost cooperation

(VOVworld) - Vietnam and Myanmar need to further boost bilateral ties for each country’s development and a stronger ASEAN community. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made this remark on Sunday while receiving Myanmar's Yangon Region Chief Minister U Myint Swe in Hanoi.

Mr. Dung said Vietnam and Myanmar should promote activities to better explore the advantages of each country, particularly in economics, trade and investment, adding that Vietnamese government will  direct ministries and relevant agencies to closely cooperate with Myanmar's authorities to hold an investment promotion conference in Yangon next month. Dung also asked Myanmar’s administrators to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to boost invesment in the region.

Myint Swe said Myanmar encourages Vietnamese businesses to invest in Yangon and to boost trade ties between the two countries. He expected that Vietnam's localities will promote cooperation with Yangon region, especially in agriculture, energy and mineral exploitation.
