Vietnam pledges greater contribution to UN mission in South Sudan
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam will make greater contributions to the United Nations (UN) Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) and increase the use of female officers in the mission, said Ambassador Dang Dinh Quy, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN.

Speaking at a UN Security Council discussion on the situation in South Sudan and the operations of UNMISS on Monday, Mr. Quy lauded the positive developments in South Sudan as South Sudan prepares to celebrate 10 years of independence.
He called on the government of South Sudan to take effective measures to deal with violence between communities, including solving the root problems through dialogue and trust building.
Mr. Quy spoke highly of the role of UNMISS, neighboring countries, and regional organizations in the peace and development process in South Sudan.
He called on the government of South Sudan and involving parties to work closely together in implementing UN resolutions on South Sudan, including Resolution 2577 on removing the weapons embargo on South Sudan.
