Vietnam promotes defence diplomacy
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang held bilateral meetings with senior officials from other countries on the sidelines of the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum on Thursday.

In his talks with Chinese Minister of National Defence Dong Jun, the two sides agreed that the outcomes of recent high-level exchanges between the two Parties and States will create favorable conditions for the two armies to engage in more substantive cooperation and boost the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. The two reaffirmed their resolve to concretize the shared perceptions of their Party leaders on defence cooperation.

Minister Giang and his Lao counterpart Khamlieng Outhakaysone agreed to step up cooperation, mentioning an annual meeting of defence ministers and a joint rescue and disaster relief exercise in Laos involving Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
At his meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Tea Seiha, the two reached consensus on the implementation of several key cooperation activities in the coming period, particularly the annual meeting of the defence ministers of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam and the second Vietnam–Cambodia Border Defence Friendship Exchange.
General Giang also met with counterparts from Mongolia, Cuba, and Singapore, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Nicaraguan Army.
