(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism on Tuesday held a promotion program in Washington D.C. to strengthen cooperation and expand connections between Vietnamese and American tourism companies.

18 leading Vietnamese travel agencies, hotels, and airlines participated in B2B meetings with hundreds of US travel companies, associations, airlines, and media agencies.
Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa said, “The US is one of the largest source of visitors to Vietnam who have high spending and long stays, averaging 12 days. It’s our target market as we aim to lure more visitors to Vietnam and contribute more to national GDP growth.”

At the event, US partners highly appreciated Vietnam’s tourism potential and expressed interest in expanding air routes, developing new tourism products, and promoting Vietnam’s tourism in the North American market.

The program will continue in New York on Thursday and Boston next Monday. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism will introduce new tourism products, policies, destinations, and types of tourism such as beach resorts, golf, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), wellness travel, heritage, and culinary tourism.
