Ms. Van underlined the need to protect schools, memorial sites, and cultural, information, and communications facilities in accordance with international humanitarian law. Cultural heritage sites in any form must be protected for future generations, Van said.

She said Vietnam urges the international community to facilitate dialogue between Russia and Ukraine and increase humanitarian aid to civilians.

It’s vital, she said, to ensure the safety and security and facilitate the evacuation of foreign nationals in Ukraine, including Vietnamese, without discrimination.

Van urged UNESCO to uphold its role in building a world of peace, sustainability, and self-reliance.
