Vietnam protests China’s construction on Truong Sa archipelago

(VOVworld) – Vietnam protests China’s illegal construction on the Fiery Cross Reef of Truong Sa archipelago. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Hai Binh said on Thursday that Vietnam has sufficient legal and historical evidence to prove its sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos. China’s act seriously violated international law, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and an Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of sea-related issues. It disrupted the status quo and strained the situation, which is detrimental to regional peace and stability.

On Thursday, Vietnamese Foreign Ministry met with Chinese Embassy in Hanoi to hand over a diplomatic note of protest against the above act.
