Vietnam ready to cooperate with the EU in human rights issue

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang told the press on Thursday that Vietnam has made progress in the protection of labor rights, prevention of child labor,  and gender equality promotion.

But she was regret about the EU human right report in 2020 which has incorrect reflection of the situation in Vietnam. She said that Vietnam always protects and promotes human rights in line with the 2013 Constitution and related legal documents. This has been implemented in practice and confirmed in various economic, social and healthcare progress, including the current Covid-19 control effort. Regarding press, information and speech freedom, more than 70% of the population have access to the Internet, international and domestic social media. No one in Vietnam was arrested or put on trial for charges of expression or human right protection. The spokeswoman said Vietnam always respects the comprehensive partnership with the EU and is ready to hold dialogue and cooperate with the EU in human rights on the basis of openness, respect, and mutual understanding.
