Vietnam ready to jointly solve global issues, says Party leader
(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary To Lam expressed his strong support for multilateralism with the UN playing a central role, adding Vietnam is ready to participate in solving global issues like maintaining peace, handling conflicts, promoting development, protecting human rights, and responding to climate change.

The Party chief received in Hanoi on Saturday UN Secretary-General António Guterres, is on an official visit to Vietnam and attending the signing ceremony of the UN Convention against Cybercrime.
Vietnam supports the settlement of disputes and conflicts by peaceful means, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law, Mr. Lam said and asked the UN chief to support Vietnam in peacekeeping activities.
As people are the center of all policies, Vietnam's membership of the Human Rights Council for two consecutive terms is the clearest evidence of Vietnam's commitments and achievements in protecting the rights and interests of the people, the Vietnamese Party leader said.
The UN Secretary-General said he hopes that Vietnam will strongly support the balanced reform of the United Nations, maintain development assistance activities, especially for developing countries, and oppose unilateral actions.
The two leaders agreed on the need to strengthen solidarity, promote dialogue and cooperation to prevent conflicts, resolve disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of the UN Charter and international law, in which the role of regional organizations and ASEAN-UN cooperation are highlighted.
General Secretary Lam reiterated Vietnam’s willingness to join hands with the UN and the international community to build a world of peace, stability, fairness and sustainable development.
