Vietnam receives 1.2 million more doses of AstraZeneca vaccine Monday

(VOVWORLD) - Nearly 1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from the COVAX Facility arrived in Vietnam on Monday, bringing the total donations from the global vaccine sharing initiative to the country to more than 8.6 million doses.

The latest batch is shipped from Spain, according to UNICEF, one of COVAX’s partners.

With the latest shipment, Vietnam has received nearly 19 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines including AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Sputnik-V, and Sinopharm.

Nearly 6.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered by Monday morning, according to the Health Ministry.

The COVAX Facility is co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO), Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations (CEPI), GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, and UNICEF as the key delivery partner.
