Vietnam records 8 new COVID-19 cases, all are returnees from Japan

(VOVWORLD) - The national tally of coronavirus infections rose to 2,865 after a further eight Vietnamese returnees from Japan were found positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the Ministry of Health said on Wednesday afternoon.

All the latest patients are now in quarantine for COVID-19 treatment at local hospitals.

According to the Ministry’s Department of Medical Examination and Treatment, the total number of cured cases in Vietnam is 2,516 and the number of deaths is 35.

Also on Wednesday, two flights carrying 390 Vietnamese citizens returning home from the Philippines landed at Can Tho International Airport. They were quarantined upon their arrival in Can Tho.
