The virus has been quickly transmitted in South America. Since it was first detected in Brazil in May 2015, the virus has been found in 21 countries and territories of South America by January 23rd. Though Vietnam has no cases of Zika fever, there is a high risk that the virus may enter and spread in the country. The Ministry of Health warned that those who return from countries with the virus in circulation need to closely monitor their health condition for 14 days after arrival in Vietnam. In case of getting fever, they are advised to go to hospital for check-ups and treatment. It is also recommended that people should take multiple measures to kill the mosquitoes.
