Vietnam records no cases of monkeypox, stays vigilant

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has not recorded any cases of monkeypox, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang Thursday at a regular press briefing in Hanoi, adding that Vietnam has launched a communications campaign to raise awareness about the epidemic and prevention and control measures.

According to the WHO, monkeypox has been detected in at least 45 countries with the number of infections already reaching 2,100.

To protect public safety, the Ministry of Health has urged agencies and localities to strengthen surveillance, prevention, and early detection of cases at border gates and medical facilities, especially among travelers returning from countries where the disease has been reported.

Authorities will continue to coordinate with the WHO to closely monitor the epidemic to promptly implement appropriate prevention and control measures.
