Vietnam repatriates citizens from Kuwait, Qatar, Egypt

(VOVWORLD) - 266 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from Kuwait, Qatar, and Egypt on Monday and Tuesday thanks to Vietnamese authorities, Bamboo Airways, and relevant agencies in the host countries. 

The returnees included children under the age of 18, persons with severe illnesses, pregnant women, and laborers with expired or cancelled contracts. After arriving at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, all passengers and crew members were examined and placed in quarantine.

Under the Prime Minister’s direction, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, and Vietnam’s overseas agencies have arranged multiple flights to repatriate Vietnamese citizens.

Vietnam confirmed no new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, marking 61 days in a row with no new transmissions in the community. As of Tuesday, the Ministry of Health’s tally of confirmed cases remained at 334, most of whom have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.
