Vietnam reports 8,800 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

(VOVWORLD) -  Vietnam recorded 8,800 cases of COVID-19 from 6pm on Tuesday to 6.30pm on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health said.

The number of new infections documented during the past 24 hours fell by 807 cases compared to the previous day.

Ho Chi Minh City, the largest coronavirus hotspot in Vietnam, led all cities and provinces in new infection numbers, registering 3,731 cases. 

It was followed by Binh Duong 2,513, Dong Nai 443, Long An 428, Tien Giang 282, Kien Giang 169 An Giang 105, Tay Ninh 104, Can Tho 91, and Ben Tre 72, all in the south.

Vietnam has seen a total of 302,101 infections since COVID-19 broke out. The caseload since the fourth wave of outbreaks hit the country on April 27 amounted to 298,064.
On Wednesday, 3,751 patients were given the all-clear, raising the number of recoveries to 115,059.
