Vietnam respects and protects freedom of belief and religion

(VOVWORLD) -Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang answered reporters’ questions on the US Department of State's 2017 International Religious Freedom Report, insisting that Vietnam’s policy consistently respects and ensures citizens' freedom of belief and religion.

It’s clearly stated in the 2013 Constitution and laws and are guaranteed and respected in reality.

Vietnam has continuously fined-tuned the related legal system and policies, particularly the approval of the Law on Belief and Religion and ordinances to guide law enforcement. Belief and religious practices of people have been ensured and thousands of religious events and festivals are held annually.

Ms. Hang said although the International Religious Freedom Report from 2017 has mentioned progress in promoting belief and religion in Vietnam, it still consists of biased comments and quotes misinformation on Vietnam.
