Vietnam respects global multilateral institutions: Ambassador

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend the ASEAN Leaders’ Gathering (ALG) on the occasion of the 2018 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Bali, Indonesia, and pay a working visit to Indonesia on Thursday and Friday.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Pham Vinh Quang told the media that the event is important in the context of the many changes in the global economy and increasing protectionism.

Mr. Phuc’s trip is a strong affirmation of Vietnam’s commitment to dynamic and sustainable development and connectivity within ASEAN.

Vietnam’s participation in the ALG meeting is its contribution to regional and global efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, green growth, and implementation of the 2030 Agenda on SDGs.

It shows that Vietnam is an active, responsible member of the bloc and respects global multilateral institutions like the UN, the IMF, and the WB as well as the host, Indonesia.

Ambassador Vinh said Mr. Phuc’s working visit to Indonesia demonstrates Vietnam’s wish to work closely with Indonesia and other ASEAN members to build a peaceful, stable, united, and prosperous Southeast Asia.
