Vietnam reviews 2020 performance of ASEAN Committee in New York

(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the UN held an online meeting on Monday to review activities of ASEAN in New York this year, and handed over its chairmanship to Brunei.

The meeting also discussed future ASEAN orientations at the UN. Participants congratulated Vietnam on its chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee this year, saying Vietnam’s coordination of the bloc’s operations was creative and effective.
They said ASEAN's solidarity and cooperation have been strengthened and member states have stepped up their engagement and backed each other’s initiatives and candidacies for posts in UN organisations. They lauded the performance of Vietnam and Indonesia as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council and their joint efforts to boost the image of ASEAN.
