Vietnam, RoK enhance cooperation to raise bilateral trade to 150 billion USD by 2030

(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam has proposed that the Republic of Korea help improve the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises to enable them to participate deeply in the global supply chains of Korean companies, thereby raising bilateral trade to 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable manner.

At a meeting with Speaker of the Korean National Assembly Woo Won-shik in Hanoi on Friday during the Korean Speaker’s official visit to Viet Nam, General Secretary To Lam urged the two sides to make cooperation in science–technology, innovation and digital transformation a new pillar of the relationship; strengthen collaboration in human-resources training and R&D in strategic technologies; and promote cooperation in developing key digital infrastructure such as artificial intelligence, next-generation networks and data centers, alongside establishing a legal and institutional framework to jointly advance into the AI-driven digital era.

Speaker Woo Won-shik expressed strong agreement with the General Secretary's proposals, affirming that the Republic of Korea attaches great importance to its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam and will support Vietnam in successfully hosting the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in 2027.
