Vietnam, Russia increase coordination in peacekeeping

(VOVWORLD) -A military delegation of Russia led by Lieut. Gen. Kuralenko Sergey Vasilievich, Deputy Commander-in-chief of the Russian Ground Forces, visited the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department in Hanoi on Friday.

Colonel Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Department spoke highly of Russia’s position, role and contributions to the United Nations peacekeeping operations.  He said he hopes that the Russian Ministry of Defense will continue assisting and sharing its information, experience and professional skills in peacekeeping operations with the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department via joint training courses and seminars, especially in training Vietnamese officers who directly participate in UN peacekeeping missions. Kuralenko said the ongoing visit aimed to enhance the efficiency of coordination in peacekeeping operations between Russian and Vietnam. He promised to make greater efforts to further promote relations between the defense ministries of Russia and Vietnam, and create favorable conditions for developing peacekeeping operations of the two nations and in the world.
