The agreement was reached during a meeting on Tuesday between Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi and Andrei Yatskin, First Deputy Speaker and Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia.

Both sides affirmed that Vietnam and Russia consider each other a reliable, priority partner in their foreign policies, and look forward to celebrating 10 years of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership this year.

They highly appreciated the outcome of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s Russia visit in December 2021 and agreed to organize more visits by the two countries’ leaders in the coming time.

Russian officials affirmed they will work with Russian agencies to, together with relevant Vietnamese agencies, realize the outcome of the visit to make bilateral economic-trade cooperation commensurate with the fine political relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi suggested that the Federal Council help promote cooperation between the two countries’ localities, and continue to support the construction of the Ho Chi Minh Monument in Saint Petersburg. The project is expected to be inaugurated in 2023 to mark 100 years of President Ho Chi Minh’s arrival in Russia.

He also suggested that the Federation Council continue to support the Vietnamese community in Russia, and create favorable conditions for the operation of Vietnamese investors like TH Group in Russia.

Exchanging views on the Ukraine situation, Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi said Vietnam calls on relevant parties to exercise restraint, abide by the United Nations Charter and basic principles of international law, and maintain dialogue in search of a peaceful solution.

The Ambassador also said that Vietnam is interested in ensuring the absolute safety of life, property, legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens and businesses in the current situation.
