Vietnam, Russia strengthen defense cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Russia always cherish the history of the two countries' relations, including defense cooperation and are ready to develop their long-standing traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership, according to phone conversation  between the two defense ministers on Saturday.

Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam had a phone talk on Saturday with General Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu, Minister of Defense of Russia.

The two sides agreed to implement priority cooperation agenda, including training and participation in multilateral activities organized by the Russian Ministry of Defense, such as the 9th Moscow International Security Conference and the International Military Sports Festival.

Both men pledged to prioritize COVID-19 prevention, scientific research within the framework of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, and cooperation between the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army and the General Department of Politics and Military Affairs of the Armed Forces of Russia.
